EPTS was founded in 2002 and specializes in the development and manufacture of instruments based on Photothermal Common Path Interferometry (PCI) technology. This technology was developed in the Ginzton Laboratory at Stanford University from 1997 to 2000. The original motivation for this technology was to study induced absorption effects and optical damage in nonlinear optical crystals. As the product became more popular, simpler applications such as absorption measurements of film materials and glass substrates became more popular.
